While it’s hard to pick from the many relatives & friends who have served in our armed forces, my favorite has to be my Grandpa Doug, whom our Jackson Douglas is named after. Grandpa served in the Navy during the Korean War stationed out of Long Beach, California.

Over the years his war medals were misplaced so 2 years ago at Christmas our family, thanks to my Uncle Phil, presented my Grandpa with this replacement of them, plus 2 medals he qualified for but had not received from the Department of Defense. Grandpa is truly a treasure to our family and our nation. Today I am grateful for the blessing of living in this great nation and those who have selflessly served so we can enjoy the freedoms we so often take for granted.
