Day 23 – Deck the Halls

In keeping with Benham tradition our house went from Autumn to Advent today.  I think I might have just as much fall decor as Christmas-?  It was a little bit sad to put all the foliage away but I am looking forward to celebrating the birth of our Savior.  In pulling out all of our ornaments and nativities what kept coming to mind is how profound it is that Jesus left the splendor of heaven to come to earth…and as a baby!  In the coming days and weeks there is much to think and pray about so that the glorious Truth of Christmas will resonate in my heart in new and beautiful ways.  I don’t want to just go through the motions and miss what God has for me.

Now it’s time for my most favorite part of black Friday.  After working all day to deck the halls I can now relax with the glow of pretty twinkle lights everywhere watching movies with my babies.  Today I am thankful for lots of Thanksgiving left-overs for dinner and a quiet evening in to bask in the kickoff to the Christmas season.

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:6
