Receive

There is great blessing in giving.  Acts 20:35 tells us that Jesus Himself said “‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”  But in order to allow someone to be blessed we also have to receive.  That can be hard when you’re the one who is used to giving.  In order to receive, we have to first let go of what we are holding onto.  We have to hold out our hands, palms up, and grasp what is being given to us.

As things change, the unexpected comes, it can be hard to let go of the familiar, the comfortable in exchange for the new.  My prayer for us today friends on the Eve of Christmas is that we will willingly let go of what we are clinging to and embrace what the Lord has for us this Christmas.  As we prepare Him room may we be willing to receive the greatest Gift knowing He is all we need.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.  James 1:17
