After school conversations are so much fun to me. I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything. Today my kiddos were talking about how two of their favorite teachers always give out candy canes. It made me think about one of our favorite Christmas books that my mom introduced our family to.
The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg is an inspirational telling of the meaning behind the candy cane. It is shaped like a shepherd’s hook because they were the first to hear of Jesus’ birth in Luke 2. It is white because in Isaiah 53 it says that Jesus makes our sin white as snow, and it has a red stripe because in Isaiah 53 it says by His stripes we are healed. It is such sweet telling of the Gospel story. While we may not know exactly who came up with the concept, the story is what matters and this book is a great reminder.
As we all prepare Him room…who will we about tell the Good News of Jesus? It can be as simple as giving someone a candy cane!
