Day #18- “I’m not tired!”

imageJackson is always thinking ahead.  He is constantly calculating things in his mind to work in his favor…even when you don’t think he’s paying the slightest attention.  If we get even close to dropping a hint…sometimes even speaking in code to one another…that it might be nearing nap or bed time he immediately proclaims…despite his obvious exhaustion… “I’m not tired!”  One day last weekend I was out for the afternoon and Nathan laid the boys down for a nap.  After fighting tooth and nail Jackson slept so hard he had to be woken up yet still grumpily muttered as he left his slumber “I’m not tired!”  It is so funny sometimes how children fight the things they don’t wan to do…even though it is what’s best for them.  I have to admit…I am much the same.  How often do I do the very same thing proclaiming “I don’t want this…” or “I’m not going to do that…”…even when it is what is best for me.  I am so grateful that I have a God who has plans for me…even when I fight Him tooth and nail…He gives me hope and a future.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:11-13
