Day 23- Even Better than I Dreamed

For quite a while now I have wanted to open a boutique. Ever since I was in high school I wished our little town would have fine shopping available to the community and now it is happening!! It is so exciting! Every time I visit one of the shops I feel that desire to fuel my flair for fashion in the form of a store. But God has called me elsewhere!

A year and a half ago I started a new (very) part-time position as the Staff Accountant at Alpha Family Services of Greenville. This is in addition to my duties in our family business. I am very passionate about this non-profit organization as we come alongside and support families in our community through education as well as offering them much needed baby and toddler supplies they can earn through our education programs. Earlier this year I was so excited to be able to take on the task of merchandising our boutique. It was a dream come true.

For me working at Alpha is like God bringing me full-circle. I am the result of an unplanned pregnancy and through God’s great love and grace I was given the gift of a family through the blessing of adoption. Now I get to use my spiritual gifts and talents as well to help encourage our clients. The boutique is a way we can give back to them for their hard work in doing their best to be excellent parents. I am so grateful for the people God placed in my mom’s life to encourage and walk along side her. It is such a blessing to me to give back even in small ways to those in need. My mom chose life and I want to encourage others to do the same.

My “boutique” doesn’t look at all like I thought it would. In fact, it’s better than I could’ve ever dreamed. I am so grateful to be part of Alpha. As Mother Teresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
