Tuesday morning Nathan told me that Jackson asked him if he saw his bed. I was a little confused but Nathan explained that Jack had told him that making his bed was his New Year’s ‘Revelation’. I think he meant to say resolution …oh, out of the mouths of babes. I asked him if God told him to make his bed and he said…I don’t know…I think so-? So sweet. The best part though is that Jackson has realized that sleeping on his back doesn’t ‘mess his bed up too much’ and all he has to do is move the covers back and be on his way. This morning when I went in to say good morning he had barely opened his eyes and said …Mom I can’t make my bed today. Look! My sheet is on the floor and it’s too hard! So, I helped a little bit. He is so funny!
In his book ‘Letters to the Church‘ Francis Chan explains that children are a huge part of the body of Christ and often overlooked as a part of the American church. Nothing could be further from what the Bible says. Their faith is so essential that in Matthew 18 Jesus makes a point to say that unless we become like little children we will not enter the kingdom of heaven. We don’t need child-ish faith, but child-like faith in order to understand that we need a Savior. Our kids have such bold faith…I think I’m the one that makes everything complicated with worldly wisdom and influence…whereas with them it is so simple.
I am so grateful that the Lord has shown me so much about Himself through being a mama. It was a blessed gift to hear Jackson’s New Year’s Revelation…and a direct challenge for me as a daughter of the King to see Him through the eyes of a child. As He is making all things new and I am learning to embrace and receive all that God is doing, I can see Him moving all around us. Praise be to God! Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
