Day 9 – Tiny Clothes

I am on the Board of Directors for a small non-profit that serves families in Montcalm County. I had a board meeting tonight and in preparation washed and sorted a huge load of baby clothes my sister donated for our boutique. As I folded teeny, tiny little socks and t-shirts, overalls and the softest, snuggliest jammies ever, I was so sad thinking about the political news in my beloved Great Lakes state this morning.

We live in the greatest country in the world. In the name of democracy we see politicians fight for power, we try to ‘save’ the planet, we send money to the ASPCA to help rescue animals, yet justify killing innocent babies and call it a ‘right’. It seems like linguistic theft to me. I just don’t get it.

This is nothing new. Even when Jesus was born there was an edict by King Herod to kill all of the Jewish baby boys. Hundreds of years earlier the same thing happened in the book of Exodus by Pharaoh in Egypt. God still reigns. He is in control. He has given us over and allowed us to choose…and choose we did. As Jesus said, repent for the kingdom of heaven is near.

I am extremely passionate about this issue because I was personally saved from abortion. I was given a chance at life. My mom chose the hard road and God blessed her for it…blessed me for it. I am not a mistake as much as Satan wants to make me think it. All I can do is continue to serve and tell my story…one person at a time. I am so grateful I was given life and no amount of legislation or public opinion can take that away.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:24a
