Day 18- Shuffle

Our daughter has been listening to Christmas music since November 1st. I get it, I mean, you only get to listen to it for a small portion of the year. But honestly, Thanksgiving gets SO overshadowed by Christmas and it drives me crazy. I saw my first Christmas ad before October 15! It’s like my beloved Thanksgiving doesn’t even exist. But, no judgement for those of you who have your trees up already…though don’t ya’ll be complaining about snow in November! Twinkle lights on the other hand….completely acceptable since it gets dark at like 4 p.m. It is however the best time of year to have your music on shuffle since we have a LOT of Christmas music.

My husband and I have quite an extensive and diverse music library. We are talking everything from Pink Floyd to Point of Grace. As I was listening to the vast array today in the car I realized how so much makes up who I am. We’re talking Broadway to back country roads…classical to contemporary…jazz to gospel to blues and soul. I jam to Queen and Dave Matthews Band, Huey Lewis and Sandi Patty….Van Halen, Reba, Tchaikovsky and The Cranberries. It’s a smorgasbord of sound and I love it! I’m nature and nurture, joy and pain. I’m hard and soft, old meets new. I’m good and bad and beautifully bruised. To someone else it absolutely zero sense, but to me it’s who I am. Music is at the heart of me, and I’m so grateful for that gift.

I will sing and make music to the Lord. Psalm 27:6
