Going into Hobby Lobby can be a dangerous feat on any given day for me…but especially at Christmas. I absolutely love that store and always…and I mean always…get distracted. Today was no different. I went in there to get a birthday gift for a young girl that is very special to our family and came across something I very much needed.
This week I have had brief moments of panic as I have been preparing for a Christmas party that I was asked to sing for tomorrow evening. It’s been a long time since I did something like this and I am so honored they asked me. But I feel like at Christmas with so many things to do, we very quickly can get behind on the everyday things still have to get done. The Martha in me has tried several times this week to rear her ugly head as I strive to take time to sit at the Lord’s feet and hear from Him.
My frazzled soul saw the book Because of Bethlehem by Max Lucado and I picked it up. It’s as if the Lord Himself highlighted the words “Lay down your Christmas to-do list and receive what Jesus has already done.” Wow! I hear you, Lord! You’ve got this!
What Jesus has already done. It boggles my mind that Jesus willingly because human…for me! I cannot wait to dive into this book as I set aside my to-do list and prepare Him room!
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
