With the onset of earlier sunsets due to Daylight Savings time ending this past weekend I decided to pull out some twinkle lights and put them in my fall foliage. While I love to deck the halls for Christmas I always get a little bit sad to put my Autumn decor away…but my favorite part by far is is the lights. They are so pretty and make everything sparkle and shine. My husband got home today and said “It looks so cozy and Thanksgiving-y in here! I like it! It makes me feel thankful!” I think pulling them out in November might be a new tradition!
It seems that not only is it physically getting darker, but also spiritually as well. I cannot tell you how many phone calls I’ve received regarding how I’m going to vote for tomorrow….four since I started typing this post. I can’t turn on the news without hearing about missing children, angry people fighting with one another insisting they are each right about this or that issue and the negativity on social media is astounding. One might wonder…could there be a light at the end of the tunnel?
The answer is, YES, there is a Light. He is hope, He is peace, He is joy, He is love and He is the only answer for all of the darkness around us. In the face of all the division and anger and hatred, Jesus gives us hope and the desire to illuminate the darkness with blazing hearts on fire for Him. He promises that those who walk with Him will never walk in darkness. With Him, we never have to fear. Today I am thankful that no matter how dark this world seems, the Light of life is in me and I am going to let it shine.
