I have said so many times…I don’t think I could have ever married a man who isn’t handy. I think it’s because my dad is a do-it-youself kind of guy and my expectation was that I thought all guys were like that. Right after I got my first car I started dating Nathan 2 weeks later. Consequently I have never had to worry about car repairs…ever! He takes care of it. Am I spoiled? Absolutely! When handy things need done, Nathan actually prefers a honey-do list…maybe it’s better than my nagging? However, if I really want him to do something he has put off for a bit, I have found that getting the cordless drill out really gets him moving! Teehee…
On his way home Nathan offered to stop at the store for me, and on a day like today while not feeling well, I’ll take it! The funny thing is that in my role as his wife I am supposed to be his helper, and so often he so willingly helps me…even after a long, hectic day of working! I am so thankful for a husband that so selflessly serves his family and often puts himself in my shoes thinking about things from my point of view.
This journey hasn’t exactly been an easy one for my husband. It’s not at all what he signed up for. And though Nathan doesn’t do everything perfectly…for none of us does, least of all me….he has faithfully stood by my side and never once wavered in his commitment. God has blessed me so richly with this man and shows me each and everyday…in ways big and small…that He made this man for me. Nathan always tells me that I’m his rib and I always laugh. I guess God made me for him too…and I am so grateful!
