So as much as I always wanted a brother…which God eventually provided in my 2 brothers-in-law…I never had a desire for an older sister. I already had my little sister Shell…who is my best friend and I never needed an older sister because I had my cousins April and Kelli. Tonight Shell, Kelli and I are celebrating this
girl as she is turning 40 fabulous years old next week !
They say surround yourself with people you want to be like. April is one of those people for me. God made her in such a way that you just fall in love with her the minute you meet her. She has this amazing energy, genuine spark and such love for others. She’s one of those people that wins every game she’s ever played and makes everything look easy. But not in a bad way that makes you feel insecure…in an inspiring way. She makes you want to be a better you…you know? You might not see her for months, but when you do, it’s like she never missed a second.
Last night I received a call and April was really upset upon hearing about another health issue. Have you not been through enough!? Sometimes as a friend said the other night…we need to feel the feels. That’s what you do around April. She is sincere, honest and doesn’t hold back. It is so refreshing. I know that I’m in good hands when she is around.
April truly is…right along with Kelli…my older sister. Today I celebrate this remarkably beautiful woman. Her strength and authentic grace have truly inspired and encouraged me on this journey. Thank you, dear Lord, for creating this gorgeous lady inside and out and allowing me to know and love her.
