As an 80’s child and teenager of the 90’s, the show Full House was one of my favorites. I could completely identify with D.J. as the older sister and I was ecstatic for the story to continue when the recent Fuller House was released on Netflix…with season 2 coming out in December…yay! It is so fun that my kids are watching the same TV family that I did growing up. My favorite character however will always be Uncle Jesse.
I will spare you the gushy details of Jon Stamos being number 3 on my tween years celebrity crush list…followed by Tom Selleck and Steven Tyler…which my husband has had full disclosure of since we met by the way. Uncle Jesse’s signature line taken from his idol…King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley…have mercy is a line I say daily around here. I think having my second little boy…our curve-ball kid, if you will…made me really realize how much I need really it.
When I awoke this morning to discover our new President-elect, he went straight to the top of my prayer time. Had Mrs. Clinton won, I think she would have also. But never before have I felt such sober conviction to pray for our nation and our leaders. I prayed for God to surround Mr. Trump with wise, godly people and that they will all look to Him for guidance. I prayed that God would lead us as a nation in His way everlasting. There is no doubt that the people have spoken, much to the surprise of many. I pray mostly for God to have mercy.
Our nation is one full of mistakes. Our arrogance is staunch, our disunity blatant, our love for one another bleak. Forgive us, Father, for we have sinned. May we come together, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Have mercy, Lord.
Today I am grateful that I can claim God’s promise that morning by morning, new mercies I see. All I have needed His hand has provided. Great is His Faithfulness.
