Day 10- Sick Day

Uh-oh…what every parent thinks when they see the name of their child’s elementary school on the caller I.D.  Indeed.  I had to go get my poor sweet little guy from school because of a fever and an upset tummy today.  Still feeling down myself, it was an official sick day here at the Benham abode.  They say a lot is going around right now.  The nurse’s office was full of students feeling under the weather.

snuggly smilesObviously, it’s not the illness I’m thankful for…as my mom has always said…I would rather be sick myself than my kids be sick.   However I am thankful that I’m able to be with my little guy when he’s ill to take care of him and embrace the rare snuggles on an afternoon watching movies he would never normally settle down to view from start to finish on a beautiful, sunny day.  As these kiddos get older I find they would much rather play outside with their friends than hang with mom.  I am thankful for that as well, but today the time I was able to spend with Maxwell caring for him was a gift.  Only our amazing God can use the unfortunate to bless us.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28
