When my children were very small it was honestly just easier to buy gifts for their teachers. As they got older and I had a little more time I have enjoyed making them. That’s just it…I made them…because again…it was easier. The Martha in me at that time didn’t do so well with messes. I also selfishly enjoyed doing it myself. Then the Lord really revealed to me that my children were missing out on the blessing of giving a gift that they created. So this year our children made their school and Sunday school teachers gifts using an idea that Emalynn and Maxwell made for us in preschool. We used plain colored glass ornaments, painted each child’s hand white and had them carefully place each hand around the bottom of the bulb. You know how I love my kiddos’ hand prints! Then mommy did this part…I took plain colored sharpie markers and drew snowmen on each little finger print. Super easy, super cute and the kiddos loved taking part in making their teachers a gift. There are plenty of ideas out there…even if your children help you bake and decorate cookies for your neighbors or create a card for Grandma and Grandpa…the idea is to facilitate their creativity, put their faith into action and let them receive the blessing of giving a gift they made to another…and have lots of messy fun!
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
