Bumps & Bruises…

This morning the boys and I went to this ingenious place called the Java Gym with some dear neighborhood friends and it was SO MUCH FUN…playing (and running and screaming and jumping) for our boys and some engaging conversation between moms…what could be better!?  Maxwell and his sweet little best friend Matthew did such a good job of helping Jackson when he got “stuck” when he couldn’t get himself up into the huge indoor jungle gym compartments.  At one point Jackson fell face first on the hard commercial rug just a few feet from me and just needed his mama for a few minutes.  After some hugs and kisses accompanied by tears and sniffles and a little road rash on his forehead he was back at it again.  It got me thinking…

I’ve had my bumps and bruises along the way…hurt that ran so very deep.  Things that I never in a million years would have anticipated hit me right smack dab in the middle of the forehead leaving one heck of a road rash.  Looking back…those war wounds really did hurt.  In the long run they were all a part of God’s plan for me.  They brought me closer to Him and made me stronger in my faith.

Sometimes we look at our circumstances and think “Why did this happen?”  We cannot see beyond the grey.  But the sun is always behind the clouds…even if we can’t see it.  I just felt led to share that with you today.  No matter what you are facing, God has a plan for your life and even this is a part of it.  Sometimes God sends us friends along the way to help us when we get stuck in this huge jungle gym we call life.  And when we fall face first and can’t get back up, our Savior is always there to help us…comfort us…hold us…dry our tears…and let us know that those bumps and bruises really do make us stronger.  And before you know it…just like little Jackson…you’ll be ready to get right back at it again.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.   Jeremiah 29:11
