A Few of my Favorite Things #10…Christmas BREAK!

As of approximately 4:07 this afternoon (give or take minute) when Emalynn gets off the bus we will officially be on Christmas break!  It was always one of my favorite things about Christmas growing up.  However I think I am more excited now that I have school-aged children.  With all of the late nights and activities and hustle and bustle I woke up this morning feeling like I got hit by a truck SO thankful that today is the last day for 2 WHOLE WEEKS that I have to be up and at ’em by 6:30 a.m.  Not being much of a morning person it.is.glorious!

It’s amazing how our school schedule influences our life.  Having a few weeks set aside…not JUST to sleep in or to selfishly have my children all to myself…but to focus on Jesus is quite nice.   I am really thankful that despite all of the political correctness in the world that our schools still close down for Christmas.  Our school calendar even says “Christmas Break”…not Holiday or Winter…but Christmas!  I know not everyone celebrates Christ’s birth, but it’s a VERY big deal.  He is the basis for how we measure time…in years before Him and after.  No one can refute that His birth was the most influential in the history of the world.

I am almost giddy that we are so close to Christmas.  I can’t wait to celebrate the hope, peace, joy and the wonders of His love with our family and friends!  Merry Christmas BREAK! 🙂

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.   1 John 4:9
